How Jagex Detects and Bans Gold Buyers

I have been making a living off Runescape gold farming and trading since 2014.

 Hundreds of experiments ...2.5 TRILLION of geepees moved ...and 1046 banned accounts later...

I figured ever-repeating patterns in the Jagex Detection System.

I figured that Jagex keeps a track of an internal account score, which depends on data like:

• Accounts you interact - associate - with.

• Whom do you share Internet IP and Device ID with?

• What game client do you play on?

• How do you pay for a membership?

The list, of course, is much longer. 

Jagex uses heuristic analysis to process the data and to determine whether an account belongs to a gold farmer or a legitimate player. 

Gold farmers get banned as soon as the system tags them 

(this is one of the ways Jagex increases revenue, because bans force gold farmers to buy bonds).
